Fly Fishing on the Wellow Brook: From Midford to Wellow Ford.

Starting at Midford’s Confluence Pool, where the Wellow joins the Midford and Cam Brooks, The Wellow offers some of the most rewarding wild brown trout fishing in the Bath area. Stretching upstream from the Confluence Pool in Midford to Wellow Ford in the picturesque village of Wellow. This section of water is a delight for the fly-fishing angler. These beats provide a true small-stream experience, demanding a combination of technical skill, patience, and an appreciation for the natural beauty of this secluded waterway. With abundant insect life, including mayflies, olives, caddis, and terrestrials, the fishing can be exceptional, especially on warm summer evenings when trout sip flies from the surface. Dry-fly purists will love the challenge, while those who enjoy Czech nymphing or traditional upstream nymphing will find plenty of opportunities as well. The lower beats of the Wellow are trickle with rainbow trout for that added excitement. All brown trout and grayling are strictly catch and release.
